Holy Name of Mary College School provided a special opportunity for its students to hear from one of the founding sisters of the school – SM Celestine Giertych. SM Celestine also serves as a Board director for the school.
SM Celestine shared the deep story of how the school was originally founded in the 1960s as well as an updated re-founding of the school beginning around 2007. She was able to share stories and songs with them, and a member of the leadership team commented, “Impressive and heartfelt talk to the girls. She has given so much for the betterment of so many. That is service.” Thank you for sharing your story during Mission and Heritage Week, Sr. Celestine!

Villa St. Francis Blesses the Pets

As part of Mission and Heritage Week, Villa St. Francis hosted a pet blessing. This follows a long-established tradition in many places whereby because of St. Francis of Assisi’s love of animals, churches and many other places associated with religious orders – particularly Franciscan ones – offer pet blessings. As St. Francis’s Canticle of the Creatures states, “all praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.”
Even Milwaukee resident and Felician Services, Inc., Executive Liaison SM Clarette Stryzewski got in on the action by bringing in rescue pup Cookie for her special blessing.
