Early Childhood Education

In honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Felician Sisters of North America, Felician Sisters Child Care Centers (FSCCC)- Montessori Center of Our Lady, St. Mary Child Care Center, and St. Joseph Child Care Center – joined forces with families and staff to participate in “Serve Like Angela” Day, a dedicated day of service.
The initiative resulted in the collection of over 800 donated items in support of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and Deo Gratias Ministries Detroit. FSCCC expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed, noting that the generous outpouring of support helped make a meaningful impact in the lives of many and demonstrated that even the littlest hearts can contribute to the spiritual renewal of the world.

K-12 Education

Fifth grade students at St. Joseph Academy sharpened their pencils, pulled out some looseleaf, explored their thinking, and crafted personal letters to Pope Leo under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Winkowski. The students shared stories about their lives, posed questions about Rome, and humbly requested prayers from Pope Leo.
The project showcased the students’ creativity and talent. Students took great pride in crafting their missives to Rome! St. Joseph Academy is hopeful that a response from the Vatican may be on its way.

Senior Living and Health Care Ministries

The Felician Village Leadership Team recently honored the 150th anniversary of the Felician Sisters of North America through a day of service. One group spent time at Peter’s Pantry sorting multiple pallets of donations and helping their team prepare for the pantry’s opening later that day. The other group continued the job started in August, by cleaning additional headstones in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Blessed Mary Angela’s call to “serve where you are needed” continues to guide the Felician Village team in all that they do.

Who let the dogs IN? McGuire Memorial did when they welcomed the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (Soccer Club), a professional American soccer team that plays in the USL Championship, to the McGuire campus. The Riverhounds wanted to celebrate the community heroes at McGuire Memorial, and their visit serendipitously coincided with Direct Support Professional Week. McGuire is grateful to be part of a field filled with compassionate, dedicated people – from DSPs to support staff, supervisors, nurses, and everyone who helps make a difference each day. The video showcases the gleeful encounter between soccer pros and the McGuire community.
