Enfield Montessori & Chiaravalle Academy Bring in the Harvest

Enfield Montessori and Chiaravalle Academy has embraced sustainability by growing its own greens and harvesting chicken eggs for sale, inspired by the principles of Laudato Si’. The initiative, aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and self-sufficiency, involves students in every step, from planting to harvesting. The produce and eggs are sold to the community. This hands-on approach not only provides fresh, natural food but also educates students on the importance of caring for our common home.

OLSH Interact Club Supports Ukranian Children

Recently, the OLSH Interact Club organized a project to support Ukrainian orphans by providing Christmas gifts. So that all club members could participate, the club utilized funds from its treasury so as to send students shopping. Eight students shopped for winter essentials, learning the value of budgeting and igniting the spirit of compassion. The project culminated as students prepared to send the gifts to Ukraine. A Zoom call with Ukrainian seminarians highlighted the impact of the OLSH students’ efforts, emphasizing the importance of empathy and global citizenship.

Madonna University Inaugurates President Chris Dougherty

Madonna University celebrated the inauguration of Dr. Christopher Dougherty as its eighth president on October 11, 2024. The event included a Mass of thanksgiving, an installation ceremony, and community gatherings. Dr. Dougherty, who began his role on July 1, 2023, has over 30 years of experience in higher education, previously serving at Chestnut Hill College. The ceremony featured remarks from university trustees, Felician Sisters, and local officials. In his address, Dr. Dougherty emphasized the university’s Felician heritage, plans for academic expansion, and positive enrollment trends, expressing joy and humility in his new role.

Felician Village Leaders Share San Damiano Cross

Luke Schubert, CEO of Felician Village, and Barb Spies, Director of Mission, recently led the Felician Village community in a dedication of a new San Damiano Cross. These leaders brought back this cross from their recent pilgirmage to Assisi where Franciscan Friar Andre Cirino blessed it. The cross is an icon depicting the story of Christ’s death and resurrection, showing a triumphant Christ. Felician Village prays that this cross serves as a source of salvation, faith support, encouragement for good works, redemption of souls, and consolation for all who view it, through Christ our Lord.

McGuire Memorial’s Accessible, Spooky Hallways

McGuire Memorial acknowledges that it is hard to find accessible haunted Halloween trails – so they made their own! Staff and residents got in on the great spooky time. McGuire’s hallways turned into a spooky spectacle, teeming with creepy creatures, eerie sounds, and thrilling scares.
